“We are absolutely heartbroken to announce that we have to cancel Bonnaroo,” the festival wrote on its website on Tuesday. “While this weekend’s weather looks great, Centeroo is currently flooded in many areas, the ground is incredibly saturated on our tollbooth paths, and the campgrounds are so flooded that… we are unable to safely enter vehicles. to drive or park.”
The festival was set to start on Thursday and run through Sunday at the festival site in Manchester. According to media reports, 80,000 people attended the four-day event, including some camping and others arriving by personal vehicle or shuttle.
Bonnaroo said it is “out of options” for the event to take place safely.
The festival this year required visitors to show proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test within the past 72 hours.
Organizers have said tickets to this year’s festival will not roll over to 2022.
The festival site is about 65 miles southeast of Nashville.
