Pakistani coach Misbah-ul-Haq has tested positive for Covid-19 and will be quarantined for 10 days in Jamaica, his country’s cricket board announced on Wednesday. “Misbah has tested positive and therefore will not leave with his side for Lahore later today. Misbah, who is asymptomatic, will now undergo a 10-day quarantine after which he will leave for Pakistan,” a statement said. The announcement came less than 24 hours after Pakistan beat the West Indies by 109 runs in Kingston to win the second Test and bring the two-game series to 1-1.
Misbah, 47, became head coach of the national team in September 2019 and was also captain in his playing days.
He played 75 Tests and 162 ODIs, scoring over 5,000 runs in each format.
“Misbah was the only Pakistani team member to fail two pre-departure PCR tests. All other members will leave Jamaica later today (Wednesday) on schedule,” the Pakistan Cricket Board statement added.
