Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Mirabai Chanu met cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday. The Indian weightlifter took to Instagram to share a few photos with Tendulkar and said his “words of wisdom and motivation” will stay with her forever. “I was thrilled to meet @sachin_rt this morning! His words of wisdom and motivation will stay with me forever. Truly inspired,” Mirabai Chanu captioned her meeting with the Indian cricket legend.
The photos show Sachin admiring the 27-year-old’s silver medal. Tendulkar also handed Mirabai Chanu a bouquet of flowers.
Chanu was the first Indian to win the medals at the recently concluded Games in Tokyo. She lifted a total of 202 kg (87 kg + 115 kg) to take home the silver medal in the 49 kg category for women.
Chanu performed exceptionally, but that was not enough for her to claim the gold medal, as China’s Hou Zhihui took first place. Windy Aisah from Indonesia won bronze in the same category.

Chanu lived up to expectations when she won India’s second weightlifting medal at the Olympics. She followed the heroic feat of former weightlifter Karnam Malleswari, who had won the bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
India finished the Tokyo Games with seven medals, registering its best medal win ever at the Olympics.
