The Taliban on Monday called on former members of the Afghan armed forces to integrate with the new harsh rulers.
“Afghan armed forces trained over the past 20 years will be asked to rejoin security forces with Taliban members,” spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said at a news conference in the capital, Kabul.
The spokesman added that any uprising against their rule would be “hit hard”, having previously said they had conquered the Panjshir Valley – the last area of resistance.
“The Islamic emirate is very sensitive to uprisings. Anyone who tries to start an uprising will be hit hard. We will not allow another one,” Mujahid said.
Three weeks after taking power, but so far no government announced, the spokesman said an “interim” system would be announced first to allow for changes.
“Final decisions have been made, we are now working on the technical issues,” he said.
“We will announce the new government as soon as the technical issues are resolved.”
