A landslide in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh has resulted in a blockage on National Highway 5 connecting Firozpur in Punjab to Shipki La on the India-China border.
The state emergency center said no loss of life or property was reported in the landslide that occurred in Jeori near Rampur.
A video shared on social media by the Himachal Traffic, Tourist and Railway Police shows a patch of land sliding down a slope. Rocks can be seen tumbling down the slope in a cloud of dust. It appears some vehicles narrowly escaped as they can be seen right on the edge of the landslide point.

“DPCR has informed that a landslide incident has occurred near Jeori- Sub-Division Rampur District Shimla that has blocked NH-05 road. No loss of people or property has been reported by the concerned authority yet,” it said. the national emergency operations center in a bulletin, according to news agency ANI.
The district administration has ordered the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Rampur, and a police team to assess the situation.
Himachal Pradesh has recorded periods of heavy rainfall during these monsoons and this has also led to landslides.
Earlier, on August 28, the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway — National Highway 3 — was blocked by a landslide between Aut and Pandoh in Mandi district.
Last month, 13 people died after a landslide in Kinnaur district left several vehicles under rubble.
A state-run bus, truck and a few cars got stuck after the landslide blocked the Reckong Peo-Shimla highway.
