An altercation of more than 70 rupees in a shop led to a murder in Indore in Madhya Pradesh today.
Store owner Pintu Dubey died after being beaten and stabbed in the head, allegedly by two drunken men. While one of the suspects is in custody, the other is on the run.
The altercation began yesterday when the two suspects came to Pintu’s pancake shop, asking for a pack of cigarettes, but refusing to pay for it. This led to an argument, but the matter did not escalate yesterday.
Today the men returned to Pintu’s shop drunk and started arguing with him. When Pintu stepped out of his shop, they allegedly attacked him with a rod and stabbed him as well. Images show that blood has been spilled on the street next to Pintu’s store.
The shopkeeper was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.
After the attack on Pintu, the suspect allegedly attacked Vijay Solanki, the owner of the adjacent shoe store. They also allegedly attacked some passers-by and damaged vehicles.

A video clip of the incident shows the two men with fishing rods in their hands along the busy road. A woman tries to confront them while one of the suspects hits a plastic container with the rod.
When they received information about the incident, senior police officers including City Police Superintendent Jayant Rathore and Assistant Superintendent of Police Prashant Chaubey reached the spot.
Rathore said the two suspects are cousins. “We have taken one of them into custody and the other is being sought. We are trying to arrest him at the earliest,” he added.
