Chandigarh:
Haryana’s Home and Health Minister, Anil Vij, was admitted to the PGIMER in Chandigarh on Sunday when his oxygen level dropped. The 68-year-old leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was previously unable to attend the monsoon session of the state assembly due to health reasons.
He was admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on Sunday night, hospital sources said. The sources said Mr Vij is under the supervision of doctors led by a specialist in pulmonary and respiratory medicine.
Mr Vij had gone to Rohtak last week to attend the cremation of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s younger brother. He had returned with the prime minister in a helicopter, and the high altitude had lowered his oxygen levels and fluctuated since then, sources said.
Mr Vij had contracted Covid last year and was in hospital for almost a month.
On November 20, Mr. Vij had volunteered to be the first volunteer in the phase 3 trials for the anti-Covid vaccine Covaxin. He was given the dose at the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment.
