Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said today that authorities are in contact with a group of Sikhs who have taken refuge in a gurudwara near Kabul after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan and that they will go to India as soon as possible. are being brought.
Mr Puri was approached by BJP MP Hans Raj Hans, who asked the Union minister to help the Sikhs. Hardeep Singh Puri also discussed the matter with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
“We have been in contact with the Sikh leaders and those in Afghanistan. They will be returned safely as soon as possible,” Mr Puri told PTI news agency.
Mr Hans said about 250 Sikhs of Indian descent have found shelter in the gurudwara near Kabul and are safe.
“I met the Union Minister, Hardeep Puri, and asked for his help, after which he spoke with the Foreign Minister and assured that Sikhs of Indian descent in Afghanistan will return to India after civil flights resumed.” , Hans told the PTI news agency.
Authorities are in contact with them and are ensuring their safety and safe return, the MP from Northwest Delhi said.
