Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised Himachal Pradesh for being the first state to vaccinate 100 percent of the eligible population with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and said the state has given him the opportunity to be proud.
“Himachal Pradesh has emerged as a champion. It became the first state to vaccinate 100 percent of the eligible population with the first dose and a third of the population with the second dose,” Prime Minister Modi said while in contact with the health professionals and beneficiaries of the COVID-19 vaccination program in Himachal Pradesh via video conference.
“Himachal Pradesh has given me the opportunity to be proud. I have seen the state struggle for basic services, but today we see them doing well. I want to congratulate and thank the government and the teams here,” he said.
“Since Himachal is a hilly state, it faced several obstacles in terms of logistics, transportation and storage. But the situation was handled in a commendable manner by the state government,” he said, while addressing the government of Himachal Pradesh and the Prime Minister Jairam Thakur praised.
The Prime Minister also informed that in addition to Himachal, Sikkim and Dadra Nagar Haveli have also vaccinated 100 percent of the eligible population with the first dose against the COVID-19, reaching the milestone and many states are closer to achieving the same. .
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was present at the event.
