Haryana’s government extended the Covid lockdown by 14 days on Sunday, while several previously allowed relaxations were allowed to continue. The easing includes the opening of restaurants, bars, malls, clubhouses and shops.
“The Mahamari Alert-Surakshit Haryana will be extended for a further 14 days i.e. from August 23 (5am) to September 6 (until 5am) in Haryana state along with guidelines to be adopted during this period. carried out as issued in previous orders,” an order issued by Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan said on Sunday.
The order was issued in the context of the exercise of powers under various provisions of the Disaster Control Act, 2005.
In accordance with other easing previously permitted, the conduct of admission and recruitment examinations by various universities, institutes or government departments and recruitment agencies will continue to be permitted.
However, all Covid-related guidelines, including those regarding social distancing, disinfection and seating capacity, must be followed, the order said.
Universities and colleges are allowed to reopen to students for doubt lessons, practical lessons in labs, practical exams and offline exams with strict adherence to the Covid-related standards, previous orders.
Vice chancellors of universities in the state are advised to schedule the reopening of universities from the next academic session and to share the schedule with the relevant department of the state government.
Immediate action can be initiated/guaranteed by the university administration to fully vaccinate all hostel students, day scientists, teachers and other staff, including the outsourced staff, the order said.
There will be a continued focus on the fivefold strategy for the effective management of COVID-19, namely test-trace-track vaccination and compliance with Covid-appropriate behavior, according to previous orders.
The state government has called the lockdown “Mahamari Alert-Surakshit Haryana (Epidemic Alert-Safe Haryana)” and it was imposed on May 3, 2021 and then it was extended weekly from time to time. However, from 9 August this has been extended by fourteen days.
