New Delhi:
Congress leader Kapil Sibal addressed Delhi police today and asked who will compensate party MP Shashi Tharoor for the loss of reputation over the years of “biased investigation” in the Sunanda Pushkar case.
The Rouse Avenue court yesterday dismissed Mr Tharoor from charges filed by Delhi Police in connection with the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

On Twitter, Mr Sibal said: “Shashi Tharoor fired. Shashi: Innocent. Delhi Police: Guilty. Or: Harassment. Biased investigation. Destroying his reputation. Who will reimburse?”
Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in a suite of a luxury hotel in the city on the night of January 17, 2014.
Congressman Shashi Tharoor was the main accused in the case, according to Delhi police.
Mr Tharoor, a former Union minister, was charged by Delhi police under Sections 498-A (husband or relative of a woman’s husband who subjected her to cruelty) and 306 (incitement to suicide) of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC).
Yesterday, Mr Tharoor thanked the court for its verdict, saying: “…Important conclusion to a long nightmare that had enveloped me after Sunanda’s tragic death…The fact that justice has been done will leave us all in the family in to mourn Sunanda in peace.”
After the verdict, Tharoor’s counsel and senior lawyer Vikas Pahwa spoke to the media: “I am delighted to hear the resignation of Dr. Shashi Tharoor. It was a long struggle of seven years. In the end justice was done. He had faith in the justice system from the beginning I had always advised Dr Tharoor not to make a public statement as the matter was subject to the court The charges made by the police for complicity in suicide and cruelty were absurd and ridiculous.
