Congress has accused Twitter of cracking down on Rahul Gandhi’s account under pressure from the centre

Just after the temporary suspension of Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter account, Congress claimed on Wednesday that similar action had been taken against the handles of five senior leaders, including media head Randeep Surjewala.
The Twitter accounts of AICC General Secretary and former Minister Ajay Maken, the party whip in Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore, Assam leader and former Union Minister Jitendra Singh and Mahila Congress President Sushmita Dev, are locked down, the party said.

After Shri @RahulGandhi, Mr. @narendramodi Ji and Vassal have locked down @Jack & @twitter @rssurjewala, @ajaymaken & @sushmitadevinc. @INCIndia registers its protest and pledges to continue the fight for all who are wronged We will stick to @AshwiniVaishnaw Ji,” tweeted the AICC secretary in charge of the party’s Communications Department.

“The list goes on. @Twitter is locking down @JitendraSAlwar and @manickamtagore and many more. Doesn’t Modi Ji understand that we @INCindia have a legacy of fighting, even from behind the locks of kaala paani,” he asked in a other tweet .
“He thinks Twitter’s virtual locks will stop us from fighting for India,” he asked.
Congress accuses Twitter of acting against Gandhi’s account under government pressure.
Gandhi had tweeted photos last week with the family of a nine-year-old victim of alleged rape and murder in Delhi.
The National Commission for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (NCPCR) took note of Mr. Gandhi’s tweet and instructed Twitter to take action against the Congress leader’s account for violating the privacy of a minor victim, in mandated by the laws of the land.
