Four people, including a balloon seller, died and 10 others were seriously injured in two separate incidents of balloon gas cylinder explosions in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara and Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi on Sunday.
Tajuddin Ansari Nizamuddin Ansari Railway Colony (40) and Sheikh Ismail (70) died in a Chhindwara market while Geeta Devi (40) and Lalla (30) lost their lives in the Ramnagar area of Varanasi.
The injured have been taken to hospital where they are being treated.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion at Chhindawara Market was so loud that the noise shook the whole area.
The horrific incident happened when the balloon seller was filling balloons with gas. Police reached the site after the explosion and began an investigation, but they have not yet issued an official statement.
In Varanasi, police issued a statement saying, “Those being treated at the trauma center are out of danger.”
