The chat transfer feature, support for landscape mode video calls, and the option to mute unknown callers are available for iOS users who install the latest update of WhatsApp from the App Store.
Good news for iPhone users: WhatsApp, one of the most widely used instant messaging applications, is widely rolling out a chat transfer feature, supporting landscape mode video calls and an option to silence unknown callers.
The chat transfer feature, support for landscape mode video calls, and the option to mute unknown callers are available for iOS users who install the latest update of WhatsApp from the App Store.
According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, WhatsApp is adding three new features.
1) Chat transfer function – This feature allows users to transfer their chat history to another iPhone. With this feature, it is finally possible to move chat history to another iPhone without relying on iCloud.
2) Silence unknown callers – According to the report, some users were able to experiment with an option to silence unknown callers. Users can now silence unknown callers by going to Settings > Privacy > Calls.
3) The landscape mode – This mode provides a wider and more comprehensive view of the video call interface compared to portrait mode. Specifically, it allows call participants to see more people on the screen at the same time, and it’s useful when you’re part of a large group conversation.
The official changelog also mentions that improved navigation for a large set of avatar stickers is available.
If you don’t have these features, please note that some accounts may receive them in the coming weeks, as indicated in the official changelog. Also update WhatsApp regularly from the App Store and TestFlight app to get these features in the future in case you don’t have them anymore after installing this update.
WhatsApp is also working to bring the ability to reply to messages to channels. This feature allows users to easily reply to messages shared in the Community Announcement group without revealing their phone numbers to unknown community members.
This section allows administrators to manage certain options for their channels. The report said that the instant messaging application has plans to allow channel managers to manage what comments followers can send to the channel.
