Mumbai Police has issued a red alert for Android users who downloaded WhatsApp in Pink. In a Twitter post, the Mumbai Police said, “WHATSAPP PINK – A Red Alert For Android Users” along with a photo explaining the fallout as well as measures to protect yourself from the scam.
“The news about ‘New Pink Look WhatsApp with extra features’ that has been circulating among WhatsApp users lately is a hoax that can lead to your mobile being hacked by means of malicious software,” the image reads.
“It is not unusual for fraudsters to come up with all sorts of new tricks and ways to trick gullible users into falling into the trap of committing cyber fraud. It is up to users to be aware, alert and attentive to this type of fraud and to stay safe in the digital world.”

People are advised to immediately remove the bogus app downloaded on their mobile by navigating to settings > apps > WhatsApp (pink logo) and uninstall it.

Always keep in mind never to share your personal information or financial information such as login details, passwords, credit or debit card details and other such information with anyone online as it can be misused.
