Smartphone maker Oppo recently launched its first flip-style foldable smartphone – Oppo Find N2 Flip, taking over from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4. Oppo’s new Flexion hinge mechanism has managed to fascinate everyone. The Flexion hinge technology distinguishes the Oppo Find N2 Flip from other flip phones
“Some flip phones also have a clunky folding mechanism and a main screen that collects dust in the deep crease. But thanks to the incredible new, smaller Flexion Hinge at the heart of the phone, the Find N2 Flip eliminates these drawbacks.
According to Oppo, the newer hinge has fewer parts, a sleeker design and a more stable solution. It improves on core functionality with a new cam system and 1/4 spindle construction, so it can stay steady between 45 degrees and 110 degrees when folded.
The Flexion Hinge features a flexible stainless steel element that is precision etched and injected with a soft, pliable material. Oppo uses high-strength aerospace steel at the key bearing position to ensure the hinge delivers high reliability with tensile and yield strengths that are 15 percent and 25 percent higher, respectively, compared to traditional hinge designs.
Meanwhile, the aircraft-grade carbon fiber reinforced polymer guarantees strength while being lightweight. This provides the perfect amount of flexibility and sturdiness whether you’re folding the phone or typing on the screen. The Find N2 Flip also uses a new “waterdrop fold” when closed.
This waterdrop shape has a larger bend radius and results in a lighter fold and less screen distortion compared to a U-shaped hinge.
The improved, miniaturized hinge on the Find N2 Flip allows OPPO to place a large 3.26-inch cover screen on the front of the phone that occupies 48.5 percent of the top half of the device to display more content, including important settings and widgets, notifications, a larger photography preview screen, and even interactive e-pets
A smaller hinge also allows for a fast-charging, high-capacity battery. While most flip phones have between 3500mAh and 3700mAh of power, the Find N2 Flip upgrades that capacity to 4300mAh.
The Flexion Hinge and unique Reticular Matrix Plate that supports the screen results in the shallowest fold of any foldable phone making it virtually invisible.
Find N2 Flip’s Reticular Matrix Plate combines with display layers to achieve the perfect fold.
