Apple has scheduled its annual iPhone launch event for September 14, where the new iPhone 13 series is expected to launch along with the Apple Watch Series 7. Ahead of the launch event, tipster Max Weinbach has leaked key details of the iPhone 13 series, Apple Watch Series 7 and third-generation AirPods. The iPhone 13 range is being tipped not to see a price hike, which refutes previous reports. The range is expected to increase in the overall weight and thickness of the handset and this change will be especially noticeable on the iPhone 13 Pro Max model.
Weinbach tweeted a ton of details about the iPhone 13 Series, Apple Watch Series 7, and the third-generation AirPods through his alternate account Pine (@PineLeaks). iPhone 13 Pro Max is tipped as the true flagship of Apple and stands out from the standard Pro model. The increase in overall weight and thickness will be especially noticeable on the most premium model. iPhone 13 Pro Max is expected to have an 18-20 percent larger battery compared to last year’s model, according to Weinbach. Both iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro are expected to use the same battery component, with a likely increase in capacity of about 10 percent. Weinbach says that the Pro variants may perform slightly worse due to the presence of a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Pro models are reported to have a 60Hz refresh rate in power saving mode. Weinbach says this cannot be adjusted.
The entire iPhone 13 range can integrate larger camera sensors, with Weinbach saying it can receive at least 15 percent more light, while the ultra-wide sensor can see the biggest change and receive up to 40 percent more light. The leak says that iPhone 13 may come with a portrait cinematic video feature that uses an electronic image stabilization (EIS) system known as “Warp”. This allows users to blur the background while recording video. The OIS camera system would switch to a less aggressive and more “smooth” operating mode. The night mode feature is expected to be upgraded to recognize when stars are in the scene and adjust itself internally accordingly. This is done through a new algorithm that analyzes textures, sharpens and adjusts shadows in nighttime shots.
Coming to the third generation AirPods charging case, it is tipped to have a 20 percent larger battery compared to the second generation. Batteries are probably the same size as those on AirPods Pro. It may support wireless charging, and the overall sound output should be about the same as that on the second-generation AirPods. However, it can provide noticeably better bass and bass, according to Weinbach.
Even Apple Watch Series 7 is likely to improve battery life over the original Apple Watch. This is reportedly due to the larger screen size coming to the next-gen smartwatch, leaving more room for real estate.
