Apple has just sent out invites to the September 14 event titled “California Streaming.” While Apple hasn’t specified what’s in the invite, it usually announces new iPhones at this time of year, and there’s a good chance we’ll see the iPhone 13 series unveiled from Apple Park. The event will take place on September 13 at 10am PDT or 10:30pm IST. Apple’s last event was the “Spring Loaded” event in April, where the company unveiled the new iPad Pro lineup, and with the California Streaming event, we can expect new iPhones, but possibly the Apple Watch Series 7 as well. and the AirPods 3 .
At the Spring Loaded event earlier this year, Apple unveiled the iPad Pro (2021) that debuted with the M1 chip — the silicon the company initially offered on its MacBooks and Mac mini last year. It also introduced the iMac (2021) which has a sleek design and is powered by the same M1 chip.
At the moment there are already a number of rumors about the new iPhones. According to a list spotted by a tipster, the iPhone 13 will launch with an upgraded MagSafe charger. Tipster Mark Gurman also hinted in his PowerOn newsletter that the new iPhone 13 will have a satellite connectivity feature. This feature will apparently come in select markets to provide connectivity even without cellular coverage.
It was also rumored that the iPhone 13 series will come with improved batteries, although there were also concerns that Apple, like other manufacturers, will suffer from the worldwide chip shortage and that this would affect the delivery of the phone.
As is usually the case, the announcement of the next generation of iPhones will likely be accompanied by an iOS 15 release date, as has been the case in previous years.
Leaks also pointed to design changes in the next-generation Apple Watch. Gurman said the wearable “will not be about health upgrades this year — rather, the focus will be on a new design with flatter bezels, that new screen and a new chip.”
