WhatsApp status updates get these new features
WhatsApp says that status updates have become a popular tool among users and now it offers more options for the feature.
WhatsApp has added a slew of new features that are claimed to improve the WhatsApp Status user experience. Status is like Stories on Reels and Snapchat that disappear in 24 hours and you can have video, photo or even text to show other people who are on your WhatsApp contact list. It’s even end-to-end secured, which means you can safely share the status. But the messaging app continues to bring new features to the option, and five of them have been officially confirmed by the company this week.
1. Show status to select users
WhatsApp has determined that not all Status on the platform is relevant or suitable for all your contacts. So now it offers the option to select contacts based on who can view the status. This can be done through the privacy settings option in the app for each status created. Based on your last preference, the contacts are selected by default.
2. Share the status in voice
WhatsApp status now works like everything in speech. The app allows users to record voice messages of up to 30 seconds and share them as Status. WhatsApp mentions that sending Status via voice is likely to be personal and give you space to express feelings.
3. React to status with emojis
Status responses are also coming to Whatsapp. WhatsApp claims that this is the most used feature among users and WhatsApp users have always asked for it. Just open the status by swiping up and tap one of the eight emojis to share your reactions. The option to reply via text and voice is also there.
4. Status profile rings for new updates
Another Instagram feature that WhatsApp brings to Status Update is profile rings that light up for every new status update. This ring will be present around your contact’s profile picture when they share a status update. It will be visible in the chat lists, group participant lists and contact details.
And finally, the fifth addition is the ability to post links on WhatsApp Status. WhatsApp now automatically shows you a quick preview of the content of the link, just like when you send a message.
WhatsApp says the new features have been rolled out to users worldwide and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
