Diesel’s Fall Winter show started with a mountain of condoms in the background.
Decorating runways is common at fashion shows to add an extra touch. However, Diesel’s Milan Fashion Week took it to another level. The company’s fall-winter show began with a mountain of condoms in the background. Around two lakh Durex boxes served as the backdrop for the debut of the Italian label’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection. It was a tribute to sexual inclusion and an impending partnership with the birth control industry.
According to a report in NewsMadura, the entire clothing line — which included models walking around the condom avalanche in ultra-low-rise jeans, denims with revealing mesh lace panels, and ripped silk skirts held together by shaky chains — explored ideas of freedom, fun and experiment.
Diesel’s Creative Director Glenn Martens said in a statement: “We love playing at Diesel, and we’re serious. Have fun, respect each other, be safe.” Reportedly, the collection will be available in all stores in April, along with 300,000 free condoms.
According to the outlet, the guests also received a box of condoms as an invitation. A jersey featuring Durex’s “D” instead of the traditional Diesel “D” logo was also shown on the runway as another preview of things to come.

In September 2022, the brand also broke the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the world’s largest inflatable sculpture ever for its Spring-Summer 2023 collection. The largest inflatable statue was erected during Milan Fashion Week. It was 49.1 meters high and 37.9 meters wide. The silver nylon sculpture, which took the form of four individuals with their limbs entwined, was set up on the stage of the Diesel brand.
