State Department spokesman Ned Price said Finland and Sweden are ready to join the NATO alliance.
Washington:
The US State Department said on Monday that Finland and Sweden are ready to join the NATO alliance after Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Sweden should not expect support from Turkey for its membership following a protest near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm over the weekend, including burning a copy of the Quran.
State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters that burning books that are sacred to many is a deeply disrespectful act, adding that “something can be lawful but horrible.”
