In the wake of the horrific murder case of Shraddha Walkar in the national capital, another similar case has come to light in Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh where a woman’s body was chopped up and disposed of at a remote location.
According to the Sitapur police, they recovered the body of the victim, identified as Jyoti alias Sneha, from Gulariha under Rampur Kalan police station in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh on 8 November, while the two main defendants in the case were identified as Pankaj Maurya. and Durjan Pasi, have been arrested.
According to the police statement, the woman’s body parts were recovered in Gulariha under Rampur Kalan Police Station in Sitapur. The woman is the wife of one of the suspects, Pankaj Maurya.
The Sitapur police revealed in its statement, “The accused Pankaj Maurya has confessed to the police that he killed his wife along with one of his companions”.
The suspect stated in his statement to the police that the woman, Jyoti alias Sneha, regularly used drugs.
“She stayed at someone’s house for several days, which ended their relationship,” the suspect Pankaj claimed.
In its statement, the Sitapur police explained that the suspect, identified as Pankaj Maurya, decided to take out Jyoti, whom he had been married to for more than a decade after suspecting her of cheating on him.
“Pankaj’s friend has also been arrested for helping him in the crime,” Sitapur police said in a statement.
The suspects were arrested after successful surveillance by a joint effort between the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Rampur Police, the police statement said.
