The United Nations Human Rights Council announced on Tuesday that it would hold a special session on Afghanistan on August 24 to address the “serious human rights concerns” following the Taliban takeover.
The Geneva meeting is being held at the official request of the representatives of Pakistan and Afghanistan, and has so far been supported by 89 countries.
