Twitter, billionaire Elon Musk’s social media company, will introduce an “official” label for select verified accounts, including major media outlets and governments, when it launches its new $8 service with the blue verification mark, said Esther Crawford, a product manager in an early stage, Tuesday.
“Not all previously verified accounts will receive the ‘Official’ label and the label will not be available for purchase. Accounts that will receive it include government accounts, commercial companies, business partners, major media outlets, publishers and some public figures,” Crawford tweeted. .
“The new Twitter Blue doesn’t include ID verification – it’s an opt-in, paid subscription with a blue checkmark and access to certain features. We continue to experiment with ways to differentiate between account types.”
