More than 50 employees were affected by the layoffs, which were spread across various departments. Martijn de Kuijper, creator of the now-closed Revue newsletter platform that took over Twitter in 2021, was also one of them, The Verge reports, citing sources.
With this recent cut, Twitter CEO Elon Musk has fired at least four rounds.
This comes despite his pledge not to fire any more employees after his brutal layoff drill last November, which affected two-thirds of the microblogging platform’s 7,500 employees.
On Sunday, it was reported that the Twitter CEO was laying off more Twitter employees, and affected employees received email notifications on Saturday.
Recent cuts have targeted a number of departments, including advertising and infrastructure engineering.
Now the company probably has less than 2,000 employees, which was about 7,500 when Musk took over.
Earlier this month, Musk laid off dozens of employees in sales and technical departments, including one of Musk’s direct reporting executives, who led engineering for Twitter’s advertising business.
The company also closed two of its three offices in India and directed its employees to work from home, as part of Twitter’s CEO’s mission to cut costs and make the struggling social media service profitable.
Twitter closed its offices in New Delhi and the financial center of Mumbai.
