The authorities of the United Arab Emirates have told trading partner IndiGo airlines that passengers with one name in their passport traveling on a tourist visa, a visit visa or any other type of visa will no longer be allowed to/from the UAE from Monday.
This means that both first and last name must be clearly stated.
The statement read: “As per the instructions of the UAE authorities, passengers with a single name on their passports traveling on a tourist, visit or other visa will not be allowed to travel to/from the UAE from 21 November 2022.”
However, according to the low-cost carrier’s statement, UAE authorities also said that passengers with one name on the passport and holding a residence permit or permanent visa will be allowed to travel, provided that the same name is updated in “first name” and “last name” “.
The carrier’s statement read: “Passengers with only one name in the passport and holding a residence permit or a work visa are allowed to travel, provided that the same name is updated in the “First name” and “Last name” columns.”
The airline also asked people to contact their account manager or visit their goindigo.com website for more information.
