A CAD model leaked by 9to5Mac indicates that the iPhone 15 Pro may have a single volume button that could be capacitive, allowing users to adjust the volume level based on where they touch the button.
Despite the iPhone 15 series being several months away from its release, rumors and leaks about the new models are gaining momentum. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo first suggested in October last year that the iPhone 15 Pro models may switch from physical to capacitive buttons. Recently, a CAD model leaked by 9to5Mac indicated that the iPhone 15 Pro may have a single volume button that could be capacitive, allowing users to adjust the volume level based on where they touch the button.
In addition, the 9to5Mac report reveals that the iPhone 15 Pro models may have unified volume buttons, replacing the current separate volume up and down buttons. The new volume button allows users to adjust the volume based on where they press the button.
According to the same report, the traditional mute switch could also get a significant makeover, with a new “push button” replacing it. This hint of a capacitive button that must be pressed forcefully to activate silent mode would potentially be a significant departure from the classic design and similar in functionality to Apple’s ForceTouch technology used in MacBook trackpads.
In addition to the aforementioned hardware changes, reports suggest that Apple is planning to include the Dynamic Island feature in all iPhone 15 models, including the standard iPhone 15. In addition, there are rumors that the iPhone 15 series will continue to use the long-term could replace the Lightning port with USB-C as the primary charging port.
However, there is also speculation that Apple could choose to lock certain features behind proprietary technology, making them available only to users with certified cables and accessories.
