Samsung brings another security feature
The company has revised its mobile security features and this is the latest addition.
Android phones are prone to hacking and spyware that usually gets onto the device in the form of an attachment, a web link or images. Samsung has focused on changing the risks you face with Android as platforms like Samsung Knox provide the extra layer of security.
Now the company brings another tool that ensures that all images are first scanned in the background before you can open them. Samsung calls it the Message Guard which is compatible with Samsung and Google messaging app for now.
Zero-day exploits often pose a major risk to many smartphone users, even allowing malicious parties to illegally access your device and all of the data on it. With the Message Guard, Samsung wants to help prevent that. Samsung has also mentioned that other third-party apps (hopefully like WhatsApp) are also offered with the Message Guard, which could prevent a lot of mishaps.
That said, for the first phase of the launch, Samsung is offering the Message Guard for those who buy one of the new Galaxy S23 series phones. And later this year, other Galaxy phones will also get the feature. This is another useful addition from Samsung that we would like Google to integrate into Android for all devices in the near future.
You can’t expect all mobile users to know how to be careful with content from unknown sources. But features like this can at least minimize the harm to the user. Android 14 will see a lot of improvements in this area as third-party app stores could finally work like any other app on Android phones.
We are curious to see how the Message Guard works and if it reduces the scams and hijacks people face.
