New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked BJP members to reach every section of society, including minorities such as Bohras, Pasmandas and Sikhs, and work for them without electoral considerations, party sources told PTI.
In his address to the BJP national executive, which ended with his remarks, Prime Minister Modi noted that there are nearly 400 days left for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and asked party members to serve each section with full dedication in a speech which was described by several participants as his great vision to expand the organization and lead the country in every aspect.
Several party members who were part of the audience said the Prime Minister spoke highly of “Sufism” and also asked them to meet professionals from different walks of life and visit places such as universities and churches to interact with them.
The prime minister said that India’s best era is coming and the party should devote itself to developing the country and turn “amrit kaal”, the period of 25 years to 2047, into “kartavya kaal” (era of duties).
Sources said he also warned the party against any sense of “overconfidence” and cited the example of BJP’s loss in Madhya Pradesh in 1998 despite the unpopularity of the then Congress government led by Digvijaya Singh. PM Modi was then a key supervisor of the BJP’s organizational affairs in the state.
He also suggested that party workers refrain from making unnecessary comments on irrelevant issues such as films as they put the party’s development agenda on the backburner, the sources said.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told reporters that Prime Minister Modi, in his address to the meeting of the BJP National Executive, emphasized reaching out to all sections of society and said his speech was not of a political nature. leader, but of a statesman who underlined that the nation is above the party.
The BJP is no longer just a political movement, but also a social movement that works to change the socio-economic conditions,” Prime Minister Modi told the executive.
The prime minister said people in the 18-25 age group have not witnessed India’s political history and are not aware of “corruption and misdeeds” that took place under previous governments.
“So they should be informed. Let them know about the good governance of the BJP,” he said with a clear swipe at the previous dispensations at the Center.
Fadnavis said Prime Minister Modi also advised the party to carry out special programs of its various ‘morchas’, especially in border villages, so that it can connect more with the people there and ensure that the government’s development programs reach them.
“The Prime Minister’s speech was inspiring. It guided us and showed us a new roadmap. He asked us to devote every moment of our lives to the development of the country. Only by changing the ‘amrit kaal’ to ‘kartavya kaal “The country can be moved forward,” the Maharashtra leader said.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized environmental conservation and instructed party workers to start the “Dharti Bachao” (save the earth) campaign in line with the “Beti Bachao” campaign. Mr Fadnavis said adding that the Prime Minister underlined the need to reduce fertilizer dependency.
PM Modi referred to the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, recently held in Varanasi, to celebrate the ancient spiritual ties between the two regions and asked party members to connect with different cultures.
“Only those who make a pledge are going to make history. The BJP should make a pledge and also make history,” he said.
