Prime Minister Modi said India and the US need a talent pipeline to maintain growth momentum.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said his government’s goal is to make this decade a “technological decade” while sharing his government’s initiatives to empower young entrepreneurs.
The prime minister, who reached Washington this evening from New York, visited the National Science Foundation in Virginia together with US First Lady Jill Biden.
“To encourage young entrepreneurs, we started the ‘Start Up India’ mission. Our goal is to make this decade a tech decade – Techade,” Prime Minister Modi said.
He said India and the US need a pipeline of talent to maintain growth momentum.
“On the one hand, the US has top-class educational institutions and advanced technologies. On the other hand, India has the world’s largest youth factory. Therefore, I believe that the partnership between India and the US will prove to be the engine of sustainable and inclusive global growth ‘, he said.
The Prime Minister said that more than 50 million people have been trained in artificial intelligence, blockchain and drones during the Skill India campaign.
Jill Biden said Prime Minister Modi’s visit brings together the world’s oldest and largest democracies.
“But our relationship is not just about governments, we celebrate the families and friendship between both countries. The partnership between the US and India is deep and extensive as we jointly tackle global challenges,” the First Lady said.
Prime Minister Modi also hinted at starting a teacher exchange program between India and the US and organizing hackathons on various issues.
Jill Biden also stressed the need to invest in the younger generation.
“If we want our economies to be strong, we have to invest in young people who are our future. We have to make sure they have the opportunities they deserve,” she added.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi interacted with the Indian community after reaching Washington. In New York, he led a massive record-breaking yoga session at UN headquarters.
