Tura:
Meghalaya has been denied development by the twin evils of nepotism and corruption, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal claimed Thursday, urging people to vote for the BJP to ensure peace and progress in the state.
At election rallies in Tikrikilla and Jonglapara in the Garo Hills, he claimed that the NPP government and the previous Congress administration were corrupt and indulged in nepotism, depriving the people of development.
“We know how these dual evils once dominated the national narrative, but due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and his social services for the betterment of society and people empowerment, those who live off these dual evils have become peripheral,” said Mr. Sonowal, the Minister of Ports and Ayush.
BJP has worked hard to root out corruption and empower talents to make nepotism irrelevant, he said.
He urged the people of Meghalaya to vote for peace, development and social security.
Mr Sonowal said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, more than 80 crore people in the country are receiving free rations every month.
Meghalaya is an important state where people deserve to be a part of the center’s historic initiatives, he said.
A BJP government in Meghalaya will fulfill the aspirations of the people, he added.
The BJP was part of the NPP-led MDA government in the state, but is single-handedly fighting for all 60 seats in the February 27 elections.
