Bombay:
A 35-year-old man was killed in a suburb of Santacruz on Monday afternoon when he fell from a two-story building while trying to get a mattress from a tree.
According to the Vakola police station official, the deceased was identified as Vijay Gupta, who lived in the ‘Hanumant Vijay’ building with his family.
He saw a mattress stuck in a tree in the neighboring building and took a bamboo to remove it from atop his building, the official said.
However, Gupta lost his balance and fell off the building. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, he said.
An eyewitness said, “The mattress may have been caught in the tree by the strong wind. Gupta’s relatives told him not to remove the mattress, but he did not listen to them. He fell from the building and suffered a fatal head injury.” A death report (ADR) was registered and further investigations are underway, the official added.
