Independence Day 2021: Local city buses will be affected by the curbs until 10am on Sunday. (File)
Vehicle traffic remains suspended or restricted on certain routes in Delhi, in view of the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on Sunday. The Delhi Police issued an advisory on Thursday and announced the speed bumps.
The Delhi Metro said parking facilities at the metro stations will not be available from Saturday morning until 2pm on August 15. However, metro train services will continue to operate, a senior official of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.
“Parking facilities will not be available at Delhi metro stations from 06:00 AM Saturday, August 14, 2021 to 02:00 PM on Sunday, August 15, 2021 due to security measures taken on the occasion of Independence Day,” the spokesperson said. DMRC said in a statement:

However, the metro train services will continue to operate.

Delhi police held a full dress rehearsal yesterday and roads in and around the Red Fort, from where the prime minister will address the nation on Sunday, were closed from 4am to 10am. However, authorized vehicles were given access to the routes.

Commercial Vehicles
There will also be restrictions on the traffic of commercial vehicles. Interstate buses are also not allowed between Maharana Pratap (Kashmere Gate) ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT during the same period.
Local city buses, including those operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation, will also be affected by the curbs until 10 a.m.
Signage and alternative routes
Delhi Police said adequate informational signs will be displayed at all major intersections to guide vehicles destined for the Red Fort. Vehicles destined for other important places in the city, such as train stations, hospitals, etc., will be routed to alternative routes that remain free of restrictions. There is no restriction for JPN Hospital. However, those who go to Kasturba hospital should take Ajmeri Gate-Ajmeri Bazar-Chowk Hauz Quazi-Chawri Bazar-Chowk barshabullah-Urdu Bazar.
