A police officer shot dead a 60-year-old woman in his neighborhood on Thursday and wounded her son in a row over an old rivalry in Bharatpur district, police said.
The suspect, Nitesh Kumar, a gunman associated with BJP MP Ranjeeta Koli, later surrendered to police.
Shyam Singh, Superintendent of Police of Bharatpur District, said the gunman of Rajasthan Police surrendered himself at Bayana police station and was taken into custody.
Weir Police Station House Officer Sumer Singh said BJP MP Ranjita Koli’s gunman Nitesh opened fire on Jamuna Devi and her 35-year-old son Saheb Singh, who lived nearby due to old enmity when he was drunk.
Jamuna Devi died during treatment.
He said the seriously injured Saheb Singh has been referred to Jaipur.
