Noida:
A fetus was found in a drain in Noida in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, prompting local police to file an FIR and launch an investigation into the matter, officials said.
The fetus, believed to be about five to six months old, was spotted by sanitation facilities in the village of Harola below the confines of the Phase 1 police station, a senior officer said.
“The sanitation supervisor informed the local police station, after which the fetus was taken into custody and sent for post mortem,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Ashutosh Dwivedi.
The additional DCP said an FIR has been filed under section 315 of the Indian Penal Code (law made with the intent to prevent a child from being born alive or to cause it to die after birth) against unidentified defendants.
Further investigation and legal proceedings in the case are ongoing, police added.
