A district official was caught in the act on Saturday by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths while taking bribes, a senior police official said.
Peddapalli District Chief Planning Officer, Purivarthy Venkata Narayana, is reported to have demanded Rs.40,000 from a civilian contractor for an official favor, senior police officer Bhadraiah said.
The complainant, Budhe Thirupathi, informed the ACB, whereupon a trap was set and the officer was caught red-handed when he demanded and accepted a bribe in his office in Peddapalli on Saturday afternoon.
The amount has been recovered from him, the senior police official said.
“We have arrested the Chief Planning Officer and brought him before the ACB Special Court in Karimnagar today,” Bhadraiah said.
