A delegation from the Delhi Congress led by President Anil Kumar today met the family of a 13-year-old girl from Narela who was allegedly raped and murdered and demanded that the government provide them with protection and financial aid.
The Dalit minor victim from the Narela area of northern Delhi was allegedly raped and murdered in Haryana’s Gurgaon, officials said today.
According to the complaint filed with the police, the girl’s father said the incident happened after his landlord’s wife took his daughter to her brother’s house in Gurgaon last month and was told on August 23 that she was passed away.
After the girl’s death, the body was taken to Narela for cremation. However, her father made a PCR call when he became suspicious.
A case has been registered by the Gurgaon Police Department and an investigation is underway.
The victim’s parents are very poor and they also fear for the safety of their three other children, Congress leader Anil Kumar said after visiting the family at Shiv Vihar in Narela.
“It is a very inhumane incident and the government must act to punish the perpetrators and ensure that all steps are taken to prevent such heinous crimes,” he said.
Mr Kumar demanded that the Delhi government provide immediate financial assistance to the family and added that local congress staff were taking care of their immediate needs.
