Kharagpur:
A trainset of the Medinipur-Howrah local train derailed Saturday night at Kharagpur station in West Bengal’s Paschim Medinipur district, a South Eastern Railway official said.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. when the train was heading for Howrah and no one was on the carriage, they said.
The accident disrupted the route’s services for about 30 minutes, they added.
Services resumed in the section after the bus, fifth off the engine, was lifted onto the line, officials said.
The accident happened about 140 km from Bahanagar Bazar railway station, where a triple train accident killed 288 people on June 2.
