Japan lost to Croatia on penalties on Monday.
Industrialist Anand Mahindra often shares his thoughts on social media about the events going on around the world. In his latest post, Mahindra Group chairman shared a touching photo of Japanese football team manager Hajime Moriyasu bowing in gratitude to the fans even after his team lost 3-1 to Croatia in a penalty shoot-out out at FIFA. Mahindra shared the image Tuesday morning and it has since garnered more than 20,000 likes and several comments. “Very humble attitude,” one user wrote. “Respect, respect and more respect for this man, his team, his country and their culture of integrity and humility,” said another.
A third commented, “Japan lost the game due to minor mistakes. But they raised the bar of Asia on the football map”, while a fourth added, “Japan continues to impress with their values”.

Meanwhile, Japan lost to Croatia on penalties on Monday. While both teams managed to tie the game at 1–1 throughout the match, the organizers sought a penalty kick as a tiebreak. Here Mario Pasalic fired the winning penalty to send Croatia through. In total, Croatians managed to score 3 goals, while Japan only managed to score one goal.
The loss brought a crushing end to Japan’s attempt to reach the last eight for the first time in their history. On the other hand, Croatia now meets Brazil in the last eight.
