A fire has been reported at the security checkpoint of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport in Kolkata this evening. Footage shows part of the check-in area engulfed in flames as airport authorities evacuate people.
Firefighting operations to extinguish the flames were underway, as shown in airport footage. Footage from the airport showed red flames and plumes of smoke billowing from the gantry
At least three fire engines arrived on the scene and the situation is under control, officials said.
Kolkata airport said the fire in the check-in area has been fully extinguished and all passengers have been safely evacuated.
There was a small fire and smoke in the portal D check-in area at 9:12 PM. and completely extinguished by 2140 pm.
All passengers have been safely evacuated and the check-in process has been suspended due to the presence of smoke in the check-in area.
