A 21-year-old man was killed on Wednesday and two children were injured in two separate landslides caused by incessant rain in South Tripura district, a senior official said.
A Narayan Bhowmik, a day laborer, died at 4 a.m. when the mud house where he slept collapsed on him in Sarasima village in the Belonai subdivision.
In a separate incident, two brothers – Rasel Miah (12) and Rahim Miah (11) – were injured in the neighboring village of Jherjheri when another landslide hit their home, the official said.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar wrote in a social media post that he was in constant contact with the local authorities and monitoring the overall situation.
He also said that assistance would be provided to every affected individual.

South Tripura District Magistrate Saju Vaheed said heavy rains over the past three days had hit some parts of the district, causing flooding and landslides in some places, including the Belonia City Council area.
“The mud walls of three houses were washed away, while several other families were affected when rainwater entered their homes.
“The government has taken steps to rescue the affected people and provide assistance. The situation is now under control,” Mr Vaheed said.
According to the district magistrate, initial financial support of Rs. 20,000 has been handed over to Bhowmik’s family while Rs. 4.20 lakh would be provided later.
The injured were taken to a local hospital where they are out of danger.
The families of the injured children received initial assistance from Rs. 5,000 each from the administration.
