Fair LIVE updates: Equity benchmark S&P BSE Sensex fell 4 points to 60,052 levels on Tuesday, while the Nifty50 index hovered around 17,730 levels.
In broader markets, the BSE MidCap remained flat with a slight decline and SmallCap indices rose 0.1 percent.
Individually, shares of Welspun India rose 3 percent as the company will consider a buyback proposal on April 27.
Mahindra Lifespace’s, meanwhile, added 2 percent after the company said it won a project to redevelop a housing association in Mumbai with an expected revenue potential of Rs 850 crore.
On the other hand, shares of Ipca Labs fell 8 percent. The board of directors approved the acquisition of 33.38 per cent of the paid-up share capital of Unichem Laboratories for Rs 1,034 crore from one of its promoter shareholders. Ipca acquires the stake at Rs 440 per share.
Among sectors, the Nifty PSU Bank index gained 0.7 percent, while the Nifty IT and Consumer Durable indices fell to 1 percent.
Global signals
Asia-Pacific markets were mostly lower on Tuesday following a similar session on Wall Street. Japanese markets were all higher with the Nikkei 225 up 0.54 percent and the Topix up 0.74 percent.
However, South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.15 percent; Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 0.46 percent in early trading, while the Hang Seng Tech Index saw a bigger drop of 1.56 percent; and mainland China markets were mixed.
In the US, the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.29 percent overnight, but the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended up 0.2 percent and the S&P 500 closed 0.09 percent higher.
