Days after Energy Minister RK Singh held a review meeting on the situation of the coal stock for thermal power plants, Ministry Minister Alok Kumar on Monday gave the captive coal mining companies a week in advance to increase their production to more than 85 percent. of their purpose, failing which the supply of the dry fuel compounds would be regulated.
During the meeting, Power Secretary also said that all those states and distribution companies that source power from imported coal plants have been given two weeks’ notice to meet their demand from these plants. If this requirement is not met, their coal supplies will be regulated, the states and distribution companies were told, sources who were aware of the development.
In addition, power plants with a coal supply of more than 10 days but with an utilization rate of less than 40 percent would be 100 percent regulated the coal supply.
The supply of coal to power plants with a dry fuel supply of more than 18 days will also be 100 percent regulated.
Previously, Energy Minister RK Singh had held a similar meeting on September 3, 2021 in the wake of peak demand across the country and the inability of factories to meet the requirement.
