Prices petrol and diesel on Saturday, July 1st, remained largely unchanged in India, including major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram and Kolkata. In Delhi, the price of petrol was Rs 96.72 per liter and that of diesel was Rs 89.62 per litre. The petrol price in Mumbai was Rs 106.31 per liter and diesel at Rs 94.27 per litre.
Petrol and diesel rates for each day, new or unchanged, will be announced at 6am on the day. However, these vary from state to state due to value added tax (VAT), freight charges, local taxes, etc.
In Bengaluru, petrol price was Rs 101.94 per litre, while diesel was Rs 87.89 per litre. In Chennai, petrol sold for Rs 102.63 per litre, while diesel cost Rs 94.24 per litre. In Kolkata, petrol price per liter was Rs 106.03 per liter while diesel was Rs 92.76.
In Gurugram, petrol cost Rs 97.18 per liter and diesel Rs 90.05. In Lucknow, petrol price was Rs 96.57 while diesel was Rs 89.76 per litre. In Noida, petrol price was Rs 96.79 per liter and diesel price was Rs 89.96.
In Agra, petrol sold for Rs 96.20 per liter and diesel for Rs 89.37.
In India, oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum set the petrol and diesel prices. This happens daily and the rates are set in line with the price of crude oil around the world.
International crude oil prices
Brent crude oil prices were little changed in early trading on Friday but are set to post their first monthly gains this year as a sharp fall in oil inventories and OPEC+ plans to cut production outweigh fears of demand due to rising interest rates, according to Reuters.
Brent crude futures for September delivery fell 19 cents, or 0.3%, to $74.32 at 0015 GMT. The less traded front month contract, which expires Friday, fell 12 cents to $74.22.
US West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil (WTI) fell 21 cents, or 0.3%, to $69.65.
