Passenger car sales grew 44 percent in July 2021 compared to the corresponding period
As lockdowns have eased in several states across the country and the number of Coronavirus infections has fallen significantly over the past two months, domestic passenger car sales have increased by 44 percent, as 2,64,442 units were sold in July 2021. compared to up to 1,82,779 units sold in the same month of 2020.
According to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), approximately 1,30,080 passenger cars were sold in July 2021, compared to 1,02,773 passenger cars sold in the same month of 2020.
However, two-wheeler sales in July 2021 fell to 12,53,937 units in July, compared to 12,81,354 units sold in the same period last year.
At the same time, however, scooter sales rose to 3,66,292 units in July 2021, from 3,34,288 units in the same month of the previous fiscal year.
Electric vehicle sales saw massive growth in July 2021 as 1,270 units were sold compared to just 143 units sold in July 2020.
