Union Cabinet Meeting: Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cabinet approved the establishment of three cooperative societies at the national level.
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the creation of three national-level multi-state cooperative societies under the Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002.
Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cabinet approved the establishment and promotion of a multi-state cooperative export society at the national level under the Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002 with the support of relevant ministries, notably the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce, Department of Commerce and Industry through their export-related policies, regulations and agencies by following the ‘Whole of Government Approach’ for exporting all goods and services produced by cooperatives and related entities.
The proposed association will promote exports from the co-operative sector by acting as an umbrella organization to conduct and promote exports. This will help unlock the export potential of Indian cooperatives in global markets.
This proposed association will also help cooperatives to get benefits from various export-related schemes and policies of various ministries of the Government of India in a targeted manner.
This will also help achieve the goal of “Sahakar-se-Samriddhi” through the inclusive growth model of cooperatives where the members benefit from both realizing better prices through the export of their goods and services as well as dividends that paid out of the surplus. generated by society.
The cabinet also approved the establishment of a national-level multi-state seed cooperative, which will act as a top organization for the production, procurement, processing, branding, labeling, packaging, storage, marketing and distribution of quality seeds; strategic research and development; and to develop a system for preserving and promoting native natural seeds; through various co-operative societies across the country with the support of relevant ministries.
It has also approved the establishment and promotion of an organic products cooperative at the national level.
The cooperative company will manage various activities related to the organic sector by offering certified and authentic organic products.
It will help unlock the demand and consumption potential of organic products, both in the domestic and global markets.
This association will also help cooperatives and ultimately their farmer members take advantage of the high price of organic products through aggregation, branding and marketing at scale by enabling testing and certification at affordable costs.
