Since August is the month that marks the start of the festival season, there are a large number of public holidays throughout the month and banks will be closed for 15 days, with several regional and national holidays and weekly offs falling almost every week.
However, in the period between August 19 and August 23, 2021, there are as many as five public holidays, so people are advised to complete all their important tasks as soon as possible. Some of the well-known holidays that fall during this period are Muharram, Raksha Bandhan and Onam.

August 19: Banks remain closed due to Muharram in many states such as Tripura, Gujarat, Punjab Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and West Bengal.
August 20: With the festival of Onam being celebrated with great enthusiasm in many southern states, banks in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu will remain closed that day.
August 21: Due to Thiruvonam, the banks in Kerala remain closed.
August 22: Banks remain closed due to weekly rest on Sundays, the same day that Raksha Bandhan falls.
August 23: Banks in Kerala remain closed again due to Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi.
