August is the month when the festival season starts, therefore there are a large number of holidays during the month and banks will be closed for 15 days with various regional and national holidays and there are weekly offs almost every week.
However, in the period between August 20 and August 23, 2021, there are as many as four public holidays, so people are advised to complete all their important tasks as soon as possible. Some of the well-known holidays that fall during this period are Muharram, Raksha Bandhan and Onam.
However, these holidays are not observed uniformly in all states and are aligned with the holidays declared by state governments. Only public holidays are observed across the country.
Let’s see what dates the holidays fall on:
August 20: Banks remain closed due to Muharram and the first Onam in many states such as Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Gujarat, Punjab Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
August 21: Due to Thiruvonam, the banks in Kerala remain closed.
August 22: Banks remain closed due to weekly rest on Sundays, the same day that Raksha Bandhan falls.
August 23: Banks in Kerala remain closed again due to Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi.
