“These are challenging times with challenging decisions to be made. I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the increasing Covid cases should worry us all,” she wrote.
“Although I have been vaccinated, at my age I am still extremely cautious and have therefore decided to skip the 5 performances I had planned for 2021.”
Nicks, who is 73, would be performing in Colorado, California, Texas and Louisiana beginning September 3.
“Since singing and performing have been my entire life, my primary goal is to stay healthy so that I can continue to sing for the next decade or more,” her statement continued.
“I am devastated and I know the fans are disappointed, but we will look to a better 2022.”
In August 2020, she called on fans to wear masks and take Covid-19 seriously, expressing her concerns about the long-term effects of the virus.
“If I get it, I’ll probably never sing again,” she wrote in a Facebook post, adding: “Put me on a ventilator and I’ll be hoarse for the rest of my life.”
“This virus can kill you. It can kill me,” she wrote. “Kill my chances to put on those boots and hit the road.”
