A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police told NewsMadura on Monday that the 42-year-old musician — real name Richard Kylea Cowie Jr. – accused of breaking into an East London flat, assaulting the male resident and causing criminal damage.
Although the passenger suffered minor injuries, an ambulance was not needed, police said.
Nicknamed the “Godfather of grime” for his influence on the British rap genre, Wiley will appear before the Thames Magistrates’ Court on September 13.
NewsMadura has reached out to Wiley’s representatives for comment.
He later told Sky News he was not a “racist”, saying his “comments should not have been addressed to all Jews or Jews,” and apologized for “comments deemed anti-Semitic.”
In 2018, Wiley was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his services to music.
